When to Seek Emergency Dental Care:

• Severe or persistent toothache that does not respond to over-the-counter pain relief
• A knocked-out (avulsed) tooth
• A broken, cracked, or chipped tooth
• Swelling of the face, jaw, or gums
• Bleeding that will not stop after an injury or extraction
• A loose or dislodged tooth following trauma
• Lost filling, crown, or dental restoration
• Dental abscess or signs of infection (fever, pus, foul taste)

What to Do Before You Arrive:

Knocked-Out Tooth:

Handle the tooth by the crown (top), not the root. If possible, gently rinse it with milk or saliva and try to place it back into the socket. If you cannot reinsert it, store the tooth in milk or hold it inside your cheek and get to our clinic as quickly as possible. Time is critical — the best chance of saving the tooth is within 30 minutes.

Broken or Cracked Tooth:

Rinse your mouth gently with warm water. Apply a cold compress to the outside of your cheek to reduce swelling. Save any tooth fragments if possible and bring them to your appointment.

Severe Toothache:

Rinse with warm salt water. Use over-the-counter pain relief as directed. Avoid placing aspirin directly on the gum. Do not ignore persistent pain — it may indicate an infection that needs urgent treatment.
